The three Akatsuki rings are said to show a great deal of fortuitous power and possess powerful abilities. The first ring was with Pain, the second with Konan, and the third was given to Nagato’s legacy.
Negative emotions can be distorted into various sources of power by the Akatsuki rings; however these emotions will stain your mind if you constantly use them to get that power. In other words, drawing on negative feelings will ultimately cause more negativity in you.
Examples- When Kisame is told about Itachi’s death he takes off his Akatsuki ring out of anger which causes his sword to shake erratically while he conjures it from a water surface before swinging it fiercely at Zetsu.
When the same Akatsuki ring is later owned by Tobi who cares nothing for Itachi, it does not affect him when he summons the sword.
Other examples include how when Deidara fought against Sasuke in his final fight, even though Deidara didn’t want to die, he was able to use self-destruction art without a problem because he had nothing left to fear due to having no desire for life. However, when Deidara turned against Tobi’s plans with the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, he was willing to risk everything by using C4 explosives to destroy it even though doing so meant his death.
