Light novel vs manga – What is the difference?
Light novels are serialized in large anthologies and manga stories are serialized in small magazines.
Manga is typically only a few pages long and light novels tend to be several hundred pages long. Additionally, because they’re both primarily read by fans of the genre, they share many themes besides just supernatural adventure.
Light Novels contain complex storytelling techniques (viewpoint alternation, nonlinear progression) that manga steered away from due to its shorter length.
There is a Japanese saying about the difference which is “manga has pictures whilst light novel has text.” It means that light novels often contains more dialogue than manga does, which makes them feel more like reading a game script as opposed to a comic book with pictures.
