What are some Pokemon that look like dogs?
Poochyena is always based on a Dachshund, and the evolution Mightyena is always based on a wolf. There are also several ninja types that can be trained as dogs, such as Ninjask or Zorua. Lastly, Tropius has the leaves that resemble fur.
Pikachu is a dog pokemon.
Mankey is a dog pokemon.
Snorlax is a dog pokemon.
Clefairy can resemble either because of its orbicular shape or by wearing the waistcoat (which does make it look like an aging businessman).
Mewtwo, Natu, Skitty and Delcatty are all also sometimes considered to be dogs because of their hair fixations (especially in the case of Mewtwo). Taller Pokemon such as Flareon, Golduck or Slowking are also sometimes considered to be “dogs” due to their shorter legs. Pidgeot and Houndoom have been dubbed as looking similar to dogs by many players.
Japan is pretty adamant about portraying dogs as clean, but sometimes a dirty game. Some examples are Poochyena and Grimer. There’s also Houndoom and Alolan Raticate. Maybe those freaks would have fit in better with the rest of their team if they had used different names for them all…
Here are some of the Dog-looking Pokémon: Poochyena, Mightyena, Linoone, Ditto (when Transformed), Houndour, Houndoom, Growlithe, Arcanine.
1) Growlithe has got to be at the top of everyones list. It evolves from a small puppy into an even cuter larger dog with a whip-like tail.
2) Houndour, which was also in Pokemon Red and Blue game, is one of the lesser known pupper pokemon. It starts off as this chubby little ball that throws up smokescreen all over the place and then eventually turns into this big scary monster that can pretty much destroy anything in its way without trying too hard.
3) Tauros definitely gets mention – it’s like a lovable fluffy cow stampede buffalo thing who does nothing but moo (or whatever they do).
Golduck, Growlithe, Jolteon, Sandslash, Pinsir.
Non-Pokemon that look like dogs: Australian Cattle Dog, Beagle, German Shepherd Dog.
Japanese Spitz (breed). Labrador Retriever. Shar Pei (the breed) Shih Tzu. Siberian Husky
Houndour, Growlithe, Poochyena
Poochyena is a dog-like Pokemon with canine features, such as a fur coat and pointy ears. It also has a bone-like figure on its back similar to that of Eevee. Poochyena often live alongside humans and their homes can be found near sidewalks or throughout forests. They generally have an aggressive attitude but it does not intentionally show this in front of humans and mainly shows it when hunting or when there’s something scary nearby.
Growlithe is a giant golden retriever dog-like Pokemon, and I am not sure about Houndour.
There are a few Pokemon that look like dogs.
Kabutops is a water and rock type which resembles the shape of a dog.
Rhyhorn looks remarkably similar to dogs with short fur everywhere but their head.
Another example would be Quilava who has patches of hair all over it’s body except for its head. It even has what appears to be collar around its neck. From what I can tell from various resources Quilaga is the fire spin off of these two monsters in an evolutionary line between those two so it seems reasonable that they might resemble some dog breeds.
Some Pokemon that look likes dogs are Growlithe, Houndour, and Poochyena. Figuring out which ones require more research on the user’s part. As a child’s companion or pet, it wouldn’t be advisable to own any of them as they might not enjoy other Pokémon in the house (unless their evolutionary line is designed for companionship), make a mess often with their appearance/nature traits such as shed hair etc., and need slightly different care than what humans provide to maintain health. The light-hearted side of this point still stands for usage with children: there have been reported cases where children keep self-identifying themselves as one of these three Pokémon even after growing up into adulthood!
