It tastes like watermelon.
Watermelon has a sour aftertaste, while dragonfruit is refreshing and mild with no sour aftertaste. The fruit has an almost otherworldly quality to it, making it hard to accurately describe its taste in human terms. I would say the best way to describe how dragonfruit tastes is that it tastes like watermelon’s “hippy older brother.”
Dragon Fruit is a sweet tasting fruit that is low in calories and high in nutrients. In some countries, it’s called the pitaya. They are approximately the size of an orange or grapefruit, and they contain a lot of fiber with important minerals like potassium.
Fruit salads made with dragon fruit taste great and provide a healthy alternative to many traditional choices (particularly for those on diets). More importantly, it doesn’t hurt that these fruits are great for making other recipes when you can’t find any other food!
I found it to have a mild, pleasant sweetness flavor that was very refreshing.
Like other fruits with an intense color, such as watermelon and mangos, the flesh is bright pink in sight (due to the natural pigment anthocyanin). This fruit has a light crunch texture owing to its many irregular sized pockets of differing bulk density; it is light enough to be eaten raw without requiring any further pretreatment. It can also be cooked into various savory dishes or made into drinks by adding sugar and spices.
The external skin of dragon fruit leaves jagged lines on your hands because the cells near the edge are swollen than those at center.
Dragon Fruit tastes like a cross between a strawberry and a pineapple.
One panel of judges described the fruit as “delightfully unique”, while another said it reminded them of something they had tasted before, though they couldn’t remember what. Most respondents found it sweet with hints of banana. One taster from Vietnam compared its taste to that of jackfruit, but across cultures there are some similarities: in Colombia, dragon fruit is called rimo; rimpi in Rwanda; bimi in Congo or Burundi and ada limunitzi in South Africa.
The dragon fruit has a pleasant taste like a kiwi, with crunchy, string-like flesh and shiny, sweet and sour seed. The flavour has been described as a mixture of peach, pineapple and strawberry.
I find that dragon fruit has a flavor that’s difficult to describe. Just kidding, it tastes like sour yogurt!
Dragonfruit is a tropical species of cactus (hello!) It has the look of a kiwi or strawberry with its skin and flesh being inside out. People compare its flavor to sour yogurt, but I find it much more like pineapple mixed with celery salt and lime juice- or maybe an apple marinated in ginger ale. It really depends on what you’re in the mood for at any given moment!
