The episodes containing the filler story arc in Naruto are called “Filler Arc”.
The Filler Arcs are a set of arcs that apparently was used to distract readers from the writer’s work-stoppage. It’s unclear how well they were received by fans. However, it is known that after the Return of Itachi and before Pain, there was an additional two months of break from manga releases while Kishimoto caught up with his pre-commissioned artworks (a poster book).
The five filler arcs in Naruto are as follows, each named after its episode: Number Twelve Dream ; Animal District; Golden Opportunity; Ninja School Dropout Training!; and Survival Exercise Defeat the Ol’ Renegade Cup
