OG in Fortnite primarily refers to the last game mode released for Fortnite, which is currently available for PC, PS4 and XBOX. It also sometimes means “original” when used as a hashtag.
If you play on Playstation 4 or XBOX, the most recent version of Fortnite is standalone and does not include an option to switch between Creative Mode or Battle Royale modes like one can do on Pc. In that case, OG would refer only to Creative Mode within Battle Royale mode on these platforms. Additionally a lot of players merely use it as shorthand either at the beginning or end of their username—typically with phonetic Internet-slang spelling (literal meaning).

The opposition to this might be that it’s just spelled wrong, but I think it is referring to the word origin which was popularized by rap artists in their early years.
In today’s society, gangs are most often male dominated. They promote masculinity over femininity and have more rigid codes of conduct than other types of organizations. When they grow up, some males who come from those environments then join law enforcement agencies or take up other types of traditional leadership roles in society.
Basically this means that Fortnite is intending to portray the OG as powerful, masculine person.

OG’s are a special type of Fortnite player. They have played the game since before many of the updates, when it was first created and didn’t have any items or skins. OG players play for fun instead of trying to win.
There is a stigma about these players because they only do terrible things in the game like shooting cars on Tilted Towers and killing everybody with shotguns, while good players take credit by killing them once they join an intense battle nearby. However, out-of-game OG’s are just normal people who enjoy playing Minecraft and other games; KFC is their favorite food place; AND they stay up late into the night not being able to sleep!
