I used a skincare product with DMDM hydantoin and ended up experiencing irritation and redness. I would recommend being cautious and doing thorough research before using products containing this ingredient.
I’ve used products with DMDM hydantoin and have experienced no adverse effects. However, it’s always important to do your own research and patch test products to ensure they are safe for your skin.
DMDM hydantoin is a form of paraben. The FDA considers this ingredient safe for use in cosmetics products as long as the concentrations are up to 5%.
DMDM hydantion may cause dermatitis, itchiness and hives. There is also some research that it can lead to cellular damage. It’s been studied at high concentrations, and the toxicity is inferred by low doses but not tested.
