Shōnen manga is comic book, generally used as a synonym for manga aimed at older children and early adolescents, although the scope japanese can be subjective. The term shōnen means “young boy” while the kanji 少年 literally means “few years”.
The plot tends to focus more on action than sexual themes or romance, but many series do include shōjo elements in some of their major plots.
The subject matter often deals with overcoming adversity and achieving goals.

The main attraction is usually action thrillers—wars between nations or kingdoms are common elements in the background or history. The present day hero fights for justice in his modern industrialized environment.
In short, shounen anime is a genre of Japanese animated style that includes many subjects typically more oriented towards male viewers (typically powered-up mega-men) .Shounen can encompass any type of show from superheroes to monsters to super science theories to fishing to tennis matches!

One protagonist might be spunky while another might have pink hair so they could look like a girl but still have strength and fight battles alongside the rest of their male crew. They’re usually drawn to resemble pre-adolescent males due to the aforementioned target audience being around 13-18 years old; however this isn’t always true as seen in Hiro Mashima’s work.
