Renewed does not need this type of inspection and testing because it is still in excellent shape. Renewed is used to shop both new and old models of high-end products which are sent to the company at own risk for repair or replacement parts that customers have paid a fee for upfront.
Since refurbished items seep out from stores inventory, there may often be some different manufacturer marks found in these pieces as opposed to other refurbished goods sold by retailers where no alternatives exist. This doesn’t change the fact that the existence of refurbished goods does not necessarily mark them as any lesser used or marked products.
A refurbished item is a no-frills product, which might be in better condition than a used or unpackaged product, but will have surface wear and tear. Refurbished items are delivered in the same shrink-wrapped condition and packaging as they were originally sold.

Products may be categorized as “refurbished” when they are returned by customers because of an issue such as defects or incorrect ordering etc., issues mentioned by sellers setting their sellers return expectations accordingly e.g., “0% Refurbishes” (meaning that there is a 0% chance of being returned for refurbishment), “1% Refurbish”, “5% Refurbish” etc. or as long as there is some general idea about the number of items which are expected to be returned by the customer.
So not just single products can be classified as refurbished, but maybe bundles too (a bundle is a package of multiple items sold together).
So if there is more than 1 item in the bundle, and at least one of them has been returned by a customer before, it can be stated as a ‘refurbished’ product. Of course only if the seller sets their return expectations accordingly.
If an individual product is sent back to the company, then it can’t be called refurbished anymore. It would have to go through the usual returns process (returns are on neweggs’ expense), and it will be inspected by Newegg’s RMA department before they send it back on its way.
The price for this item is what you might call ‘refurbished’, which is usually less than the price on an unopened product.
