Meru is a spirit who began her life as an evil earthbound demon, cursed by the gods for saving and seducing human souls. She became a succubus so that she could pleasure these men without them ever knowing they were under attack.
Meru was born in Africa where she learned to manipulate men with her voice and allure. One night, she heard crying coming from some bushes near the mating grounds of the hyenas, which had just been attacked by bull elephants. Nearly all of them had deserted their burrows in terror and only two mothers remained guarding their cubs to try to keep them safe. The elephants killed one mother while the other screamed loudly until it too succumbed to death on impact with the bull’s tusk.
Meru heard the cries of one of the babies and worked her ways towards it through tall grasses as tall as she was. The child called out to her and she responded by singing a song back to him in African, which was unintelligible to human ears. The child apparently understood her.
I have personally encountered Meru the succubus in my dreams, where she appeared as a seductive and elusive figure who fed off my energy. It was a thrilling yet unsettling experience that left me with more questions than answers about the nature of succubi.
