How Many Minutes Does It Take The Average Person To Walk One Mile?

How Many Minutes Does It Take The Average Person To Walk One Mile?

There are a lot of factors that go into determining the walking speed of an average human. For example, weight is a huge factor in how fast someone can walk. The heavier you are, the slower your walking speed will be.

Other factors to consider are age, sex, and height.

Humans typically start out with a fairly high walking speed and then it gradually slows down over time as they get older because their muscles grow weaker and stiffer.

This blog post will look at some statistics about people’s walking speeds and what affects them!

How many minutes does it take the average person to walk one mile?

The answer is an average of about 15-20 minutes.

However, as we mentioned, there are a lot of factors that come into play when answering this question, including walking speed. It is estimated that an average human walks around 3-4 miles per hour or 6,000 steps per hour (100 steps per minute).

The following statistics done by the Healthline health magazine shows the difference in walking speed by sex and age:

In general, males tend to have a faster walking speed than women. The average walking speed for men is about 4 miles per hour (or roughly three kilometers). That’s significantly faster than the average female walking speed of around 2 and a half miles per hour (approximately one kilometer), which seems reasonable because on average females are smaller in size.

In addition, there does seem to be a correlation between height and walking speeds; taller people generally walk more quickly. Another factor that affects how fast someone walks has to do with carrying something while they’re moving – so if you want to know your approximate pace just carry an object weighing five pounds as you measure it!

Final Words

On average, most people walk about three to four miles per hour. This speed can vary depending on your level of fitness condition and how old you are. However, regardless of your walking speed, it’s likely that incorporating walking into your lifestyle will lead to positive changes.
