Typing speed in Word Per Minute, or WPM, is typically measured using two different typing tests to see where a person lags. The first test measures one’s ability to type single words at an increasing tempo. The second test checks the “five-finger” typing sequence of EIOJKL; both hands are tested. A good (not just “fast”) speed on these tests would be about fifteen to twenty-five in single words and forty-eight for five fingers respectively on both hands.”

Users might do well with a range between 25~25 and 48~48, so 50 is just outside that range. Currently I am typing at 26 wpm using Qwerty keyboard layout.”

Though 50 wpm is considered the international standard, I would say the average typing speed in WPM for someone who actually pays attention and cares about their typing skills is 20-25.

Most people type far slower than they think – which can be frustrating to the person on the other end of your message. With so much time spent with computers today, it’s important that people take note of their typing speed and make an effort to improve it if needed. Regardless of age or gender, it’s usually possible to achieve a better level of accuracy in less time by taking measures like avoiding repetitive thoughts under stress, practicing more often with certain difficult letters or words (e.g., try playing typing games), maintaining good posture while sitting down, etc.

    35-40 WPM

Older people, who usually type slower than younger people, are better typists because they have a history of typing. Typing less than 40 words per minute is considered to be below average. The rate should increase as the years go by, but it doesn’t have to stay at one constant rate unless you’re still practicing or something like that. People who don’t ever type will become even slower later in life because the motor skills that control typing proficiency tend to deteriorate with age and lack of usage over time.”

It depends on what language you want to type in.

There are many different typing speed tests online, and the average is usually 55 words per minute for native English speakers and 20 words per minute for non-native speakers.

Most people can’t be fast typists if they don’t practice enough. Typing should become an automatic skill that doesn’t require any thought about what keys to press or how fast to do it; only then will a person’s mind be free up to do other tasks while typing.

Enterprises have found these skills valuable because it yields a high number of accurate keystrokes with little strain exerted upon the typist’s hands, which is helpful when inputting sensitive data into computers.

A little more than 100 WPM is the standard for people with normal intelligence. People who test as intelligent have a higher typing speed which ranges anywhere from 150 to 300 WPM. If you type faster than 200 WPM, you are an anomaly on the spectrum of intelligence and not everyone out there can comprehend your words!

A typing speed of at least 30 words per minute is considered to be the benchmark for professional typists, but there are many sources that report much higher rates. For instance, keyboard expert Betty Anne Dennison claims speeds as high as 60-80 wpm can be attained in short bursts and speeds up to 110 wpm are possible during a marathon 85-minute typing contest.

If you’re aiming for 100 WPM or more, it is worth investing time into practice with fingerspelling drills before going on to conventional text typing. Typing tutor TouchType explains how this process works memorizing finger placement combinations with different letters prior to attempting whole word combinations on-screen or in print.

The speed necessary to be a successful professional is 60 words per minute.

That’s 10 words per second! In comparison, the average untrained English speaker’s typing speed is 55 WPM and the average programmer can type 90-120 WPM. This difference means that it’ll take an average programmer 4 times longer to program some task than to write it out manually by hand, which starts adding up really quickly for projects with hundreds or thousands of lines of code.

75WPM is considered to be a moderate typing speed and 110 WPM is the threshold for rapid texting, but the average reported typing speed in America is 55WPM.

A person who has an average typing speed of 55-60 words per minute can read and comprehend about 21500 words per day. If they are reading aloud, that number increases to 27100 words per day. An extra hour each day equals 27 days over one year so this type of typist would read about 940 books by the end of their first year!

A good typing speed is between 60-130 WPM. The average US adult only reaches around 45-80, but with practice, that can be increased to 100-150W PM over time (~60 hour practice).

    110 wpm

This is a very difficult question, because typists switch between caps and lowercase letters as well. The general consensus in the field is that for adults over the age of 40, 50 or 60 wpm is considered good typing speed. The average adult over 40 can usually type about half their words correctly on their first pass (50+ wpm). For teenagers it’s around 60-70. A professional typist has an accuracy rate typically hovering at 95% and can reach speeds up to 120+ wpm.

A good typing speed is between 70-100 WPM. The average US adult only reaches around 40 WPM, but with practice, that can be increased to 80-120 WPM. A person’s age and their education level are the two most significant factors in determining how fast they type.
